That is actually the colored page. It's almost completely desaturated for atmospheric reasons, which is how it's come to look black and white, but there is a very slight hint of color there.
Mayhaps she was enquiring about the affixed illustration of prominent Hinges characters attired in the likenesses of equines from a popular western animation series. You have implied that color was to be administered to said portrait.
