It's like the old myth that the Inuit have dozens of words for snow. There's more than a grain of truth to the idea behind it. A living language grows to fit the needs of its people.

It's intuitive in english and sensible in context. It's a writer's privelege to make up new words when the old words aren't enough, and it also makes sense that a doll civilization would have such a word.

Also, Wossname begins to redeem himself, hooray! It means full, complete, or exhaustive. Which the drawings may well be, but the previous panel had me expecting "comprehensible," which means understandable (as in, she can comprehend the drawings but not the language).

On the other hand, I think "articulatures" makes sense in the comic, even though it isn't a real word. It reminds me of "armature," which in sculpture is "a metal framework on which a sculpture is molded with clay or similar material."

Regards,

A Word NerdAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644022358096751048.post-58867405908912239782014-07-14T20:46:54.149-07:002014-07-14T20:46:54.149-07:00Or use articulations for a general noun and articu...Or use articulations for a general noun and articulatures for a kind of connectors, like ligatures.=Tamarnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644022358096751048.post-20993454384023755602014-07-14T13:15:28.495-07:002014-07-14T13:15:28.495-07:00I like it; you could just as well keep it.
